Jim Veltman Tribute Night

The final Rock regular season home game of 2008 on Sunday April 27th is Jim Veltman Tribute Night. It will be Jim’s last home game ever of the regular season at the Air Canada Centre.

The evenings festivities will include giveaways, tributes and many other exciting, fun-filled events to honour Jim’s contributions to the Rock organization. This special evening will give fans the chance to let Jim know how special he is to the Rock.

The first 5,000 fans through the gates at the Air Canada Centre on April 27th will receive a free Jim Veltman bobblehead and the first 10,000 fans that evening will receive a “SCOOP” cheer card! Gates open at 12:00 p.m.
During the game that night, Jim will be looking for help to support two great projects and asking for fan contributions to help him out.

First off, he is coordinating a trip with his family in August for two weeks to visit the native community of Attawapiskat in Northern Ontario. On this trip he’ll be supplying lacrosse equipment and running a camp for the adults and children of that community as a way for him to “give back” to the people from whom the native roots of lacrosse were created and show respect for a game that he feels has been so good to him, his family and to all of us!

Secondly, as an athletic ambassador for Right to Play he will be raising funds to support their efforts as well. Right to Play uses sport and play opportunities for children in war-torn countries to promote development, health and peace.

Jim has personally pledged to give $5,000 toward these two causes and during the game on April 27th, there will be volunteers passing around lacrosse helmets through the stands and fans will be encouraged to make a donation of any amount to help support Jim’s projects.
