Kyle Belton Named Rookie Of The Week

Toronto – The National Lacrosse League has announced their players of the week and Rock transition player Kyle Belton has been named the rookie of the week.  The weekly awards are determined by a vote of the league’s General Managers and Head Coaches.

Celebrating his 26th birthday on Saturday afternoon, Belton scored three times including his first ever NLL goal in a 13-8 win over the Philadelphia Wings.  Belton also collected 7 loose balls and forced a turnover in the victory against the Rock’s Eastern Division rivals.

The Rock selected the Langley, BC native in the 3rd round of the 2012 NLL Entry draft in October of last year.  Belton is the only 2012 Rock draft pick on the active roster.

The Minnesota Swarm swept the rest of the league awards with goaltender Tyler Carlson winning the defensive player of the week, Jordan MacIntosh took the transition player of the week and Callum Crawford is the offensive player of the week.

The Rock will be back at home this Sunday against Edmonton at 3pm at Air Canada Centre when it will be Toronto Sun Autograph Day.  For the best ticket in town, visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
