NLL Announces Right To Play Weekend March 20-21

The National Lacrosse League has announced Right To Play Weekend from March 20-21, which features four games on the NLL Week 12 schedule. The league will raise awareness and funds for Right To Play, a Canadian development organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children around the world.

The weekend will be highlighted by a team-signed jersey auction on NLL.com along with a Right To Play presence at the games in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto, including ceremonial face-offs, 50/50 raffles, in-game activation elements and promotion on the league’s digital and social media.

“This is going to be a great weekend and we’re grateful for the investment of time and support that the NLL and its players give to Right To Play,” said Lori Smith, National Director, Right To Play Canada. “We believe play has the power to transform a child’s life, and we’re very proud that the NLL shares that conviction. This weekend is a chance for fans to learn more about our international work and about how our partnership with the NLL and its players is empowering young people in Canada.”

“We’re very proud to support such a tremendous charity with Right To Play Weekend,” said George Daniel, NLL Commissioner. “The work being done to serve youth through sport is inspiring, especially the Lacrosse For Development program, which our players, teams and league have really embraced.”

A number of current and former NLL players support Right To Play’s Lacrosse For Development program, which aims to enrich the lives of underserved youth, particularly in Indigenous communities. Calgary Roughnecks captain Andrew McBride is a Right To Play Athlete Ambassador and has visited the organization’s programs in both West Africa and First Nations communities in Canada.

“Right To Play is such a fantastic organization that really uses sport to help kids around the world,” McBride said. “I’m really excited that I can share the ability to play lacrosse and use that to teach the kids some of the lessons that Right To Play is all about.”
