Prime Minister Harper Congratulates Rock

The Toronto Rock recently received a congratulatory letter from Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper recognizing their 2011 NLL Championship.

I am pleased to offer my personal congratulations to the members of the Toronto Rock for winning the Champion’s Cup as the 2011 National Lacrosse League Champions.

Lacrosse has been played in Canada for centuries.  As our national summer game, it attracts many players and fans, and all Canadians are proud that a team from Canada was able to bring home this year’s championship.  In years to come, you will look back on this winning season with fond memories and pride in your accomplishments.

While Toronto’s other professional sport teams were, once again, shut out of the playoffs this spring, the Toronto Rock provided a thrilling playoff run and championship game for its fans.  I would like to commend the players, the coaching staff, and especially Hall-of-Fame goaltender Bob Watson, for all of their hard work and remarkable talent.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer my best wishes for every success in your future endeavours.

Signed

Stephen Harper
