Rock Charity Game Set For Friday

Toronto – The Toronto Rock and their fans will be raising money this week for the Canadian Forces Military Families Fund leading up to Friday night’s 7:30pm game against the Philadelphia Wings at Air Canada Centre.

On Monday, the Rock opened up the online bidding on the first items up for auction.  They include a game day experience, dinner with Rock players Matt Roik and Garrett Billings as well as a Stephan Leblanc game-worn jersey from his 2010 Rookie of the Year campaign.  Tuesday and Wednesday there will be more items added with all the proceeds going towards the Canadian Forces Military Families Fund.

The big change this year is the Rock game-worn jerseys from Friday night’s game will not be auctioned off online in advance of the game as had been the case in previous years.  This year, fans will have the chance to come on the floor following the game and participate in a live auction to win the game-worn and game-issued camouflage Rock third jerseys from Friday’s game against Philadelphia.

Fans can pre-register for the live auction at www.torontorock.com or they can register in person prior to and during the game on Friday night at Air Canada Centre.

If the auctions aren’t for you, there is a very simple way to support the cause.  For every ticket sold to Friday’s game, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment will graciously donate one dollar towards the fundraising efforts.  So by simply purchasing a ticket to the game and being in the building on Friday night, you will be supporting the cause.

Also, Toronto Rock Cheerleaders will be making their way through the stands and concourse on Friday night selling raffle tickets for $20.  Each raffle ticket gives you a chance to win a game-used or game-issued autographed Rock helmet from Friday’s game.

Previously, the Toronto Rock and Sunnybrook Foundation teamed up to “Black Out Breast Cancer” in both 2010 and 2011.  The Rock were able to raise in excess of $65,000 for Sunnybrook Foundation and the lacrosse club will have an Examination Room named in their honour at the new Sunnybrook BreastCancer Centre slated to open later this year.

For more information on the auctions or to purchase tickets to Friday’s game against Philadelphia, please visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
