Rock Head Coach & GM Both Looking Forward To NLL Combine

Toronto – The National Lacrosse League recently announced details relating to the NLL Player Combine, taking place on September 30 in Oakville, Ontario at the Toronto Rock Training & Practice Facility. The combine is open to all draft prospects & non-roster free agents, and takes place prior to the 2012 NLL Draft on October 1 in Toronto.

All players who participate in the combine will be subject to a series of tests that will evaluate their endurance, reaction times, strength, agility, speed, and lacrosse related skills. Players will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a practice setting through structured games and involved in an interview process with NLL General Managers and Coaches. The player’s cost for the combine is $100 and is payable online via the following link: http://www.sporttesting.com/events.php.

The combine has every NLL coach and GM excited about this event not only for this year but also about the growth of this event for the future.

“The combine provides us with a rare opportunity to see many players we haven’t seen play this summer,” said Rock GM and assistant coach Terry Sanderson.  “We’re out at games at every level all summer, but sometimes you only see a guy once or just not at all because of schedules.  This is something every coach and GM is really looking forward to.”

The opportunity for a player to have a good showing at an event like this is something that has rarely existed.  The last NLL Combine was a few years ago in Boston, MA and provided many players who weren’t on the radar of NLL coaches and GM’s the chance to get noticed.   Many players either got drafted or were invited to NLL training camps if they were a non-rostered free agent.

“Every coach looks for that diamond in the rough,” explained Rock head coach Troy Cordingley.  “For a draft eligible prospect or a free agent to have the opportunity to play in front of every team and go through this testing is an amazing opportunity.  A lot of players talk about getting that one opportunity, well here it is, come and show us what you can do.”

The deadline to register is September 17th or until the combine is filled. The testing will be conducted by Sport Testing Inc.  The combine will be a day-long event, with registration starting at 8am.
