Rock Owner Jamie Dawick Will Match Movember Donations

Toronto – Toronto Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick announced last night via his Twitter account (@JDawick) that he will make a donation to the Movember campaign matching the amount of money raised by the Toronto Rock Movember Team at month’s end.

Rock players, staff and fans have banded together growing moustaches to raise money to increase the awareness of men’s health issues, specifically Prostate Cancer.

“I’m proud of our players, staff and fans that have supported the Movember campaign,” said Dawick.  “Our lacrosse club is like a family and this is another example of our family coming together to support an important cause.”

The Rock and their fans have raised significant amounts of money for charity in the past including the two most recent charity games where more than $65,000 was raised for Sunnybrook Foundation and their new Breast Cancer Centre scheduled to open in the new year.  The Rock will have an exam room named in their honour in the new facility recognizing their fundraising efforts.

To date, the Toronto Rock Movember Team has raised just over $2,800 on its own in a little more than three weeks.  With the recent announcement of Dawick matching donations from the public, it means the Rock Movember Team has essentially raised $5,600 to this point.  The Rock are calling on their fans to dig deep, and donate recognizing that any financial support they can give to the cause will be equaled by Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick.

The Rock team is led by Movember Captain Josh Sanderson along with Mo Bros Kasey Beirnes, Matt Roik, Glen Bryan and Stephen Hoar.  You can visit www.torontorock.com/Movember for more information.
