Rock Owner Will Pledge $25,000 To Charity For March 8th Sellout

Toronto, ON – Over the past three seasons, the Toronto Rock have raised almost $100,000 at their annual charity night.  This year, the Rock hope to not only raise funds, but also collect food donations as this season’s charity game will benefit Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.

On Friday, March 8th when the Rock host the Colorado Mammoth, fans will be encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the game in support of Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.

If the game is sold out, Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick will donate another $25,000 to Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.

“Our fans are very passionate about whatever cause we choose to support,” explained Dawick.  “This year we wanted to really make a direct impact on the City of Toronto with our fundraising efforts.  We know our fans understand the importance of supporting charitable initiatives and we’re confident our fans will step up again this year to make our charity night a success.”

Additionally funds will be raised through various avenues including Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment donating one dollar for every ticket sold directly back to the charity making the impact of a sell out even greater.

Following the game, the Rock will hold a live auction on the floor. The bidding will be fast and furious, as the game worn jerseys from that night’s game will be auctioned off.  Making this even more unique is the fact that the game worn jerseys being auctioned will be the team’s wildly popular third jersey they also wore for this season’s home opener.

"The Toronto Rock has a strong history of supporting charities. I'm really excited to see the Toronto Rock choosing to support Daily Bread and the fight against hunger this year. The donations raised at this game will make a difference to those families out there who are struggling to make ends meet," said Gail Nyberg, executive director of Daily Bread Food Bank. "I'm delighted that Citytv's Breakfast Television is throwing their weight behind this initiative as well.  I'll be honest, I definitely have my fingers crossed for the game to be sold out!"

The day will begin early, as Toronto’s number one morning show, Citytv’s Breakfast Television, will be live on location at Air Canada Centre.
