Rubber Match For Top Spot In The East

Toronto - The first two meetings have shown that these two teams have been nothing short of inconsistent this year.  The Rock dominated the Wings in Philadelphia and then the Wings did much the same two weeks later in Toronto.  Both teams are 4-4 entering this weekend's third and final regular season meeting between the two teams and once again, first place is on the line.

When the Wings and Rock get together on Friday night at 7:30pm at Air Canada Centre, both clubs will be looking to start off the second half on the right foot.

"Well obviously being 4-4 with the parity, especially in the eastern side of our league, maybe we should be happy with that but we're not," said Rock GM Terry Sanderson.  "The Injury front might be catching up to us a bit.  Having said that everyone else is going through (injuries) and we've got to find a way to compete."

The Rock won the first of two previous meetings 15-6 in Philadelphia on February 4th in what most consider to be the best game the Rock have played this season.  In the last meeting back on February 18th in Toronto, the Rock were scorched by Dan Dawson who put up 10 points and Brendan Mundorf who struck for 5 goals as Philadelphia were 14-8 winners.

"It's a very important game for first place and to be in the position to have the tie-breaker if that were to be the case come playoff time," said Wings Head Coach and GM Johnny Mouradian.

The Rock injury situation doesn't seem much clearer and it looks like Colin Doyle and Phil Sanderson may miss Friday's game.

"They both were wearing yellow (Tuesday) at practice," said Sanderson.  "They both left the floor early and I don't expect to see either one of those guys in the lineup."

Friday is Canadian Forces Night and the Rock will wear their camouflage third jerseys as the lacrosse club will raise funds for the Canadian Forces Military Families Fund.  Following the game, fans will be invited down to the floor to participate in a live auction of the game-worn and game-issued Rock third jerseys from Friday's game.  Fans are encouraged to pre-register for the auction at torontorock.com or on the concourse on Friday night during the game.

Rock fans also have an opportunity to bid on other great memorabilia online until Monday at 12pm.  All proceeds from the online auction will also go to the Canadian Forces Military Families Fund.

Additionally, for every ticket sold to Friday's game, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment will donate one dollar to the fundraising efforts.

For tickets to Friday night's game, please visit www.torontorock.com or phone 416-596-3075 to speak with a ticket representative.  The first place showdown with Philadelphia will be broadcast live on TSN2 at 7:30pm and will also be available on TSN Mobile TV.

The Rock will host the Buffalo Bandits next Friday night at 7:30pm at Air Canada Centre in their second to last regular season home game of 2012.
