TORONTO ROCK FALL TO CALGARY ROUGHNECKS 16-9

TORONTO – The Toronto Rock drop the second home game of the season 16-9 to West Division rivals, the Calgary Roughnecks. Toronto’s record falls to 1-2.
Calgary opened the decision with three back-to-back goals within the first three and a half minutes of the first quarter. Toronto’s Lewis Ratcliff answered back followed by Josh Wasson to bring the match within one goal. The Roughnecks replied with four goals to give them the lead. Kasey Beirnes and Luke Wiles would put the Rock back onto the board scoring the last two goals of the period.

Toronto trailed 7-4 going into the second quarter before Ratcliff and Wiles added their seconds of the night. Stephen Hoar netted his first goal in a Toronto Rock uniform. Jason Crosbie put one past Calgary goalie Pat Campbell adding another for Toronto as the Rock marked up the scoreboard. Rock goalie Bob Watson came to life allowing two Calgary goals in the quarter. Heading into the half the Rock trailed by one, 8-9.          
Dane Dobbie from Calgary opened scoring in the second half. The Roughnecks dominated the quarter until a bullet from Wiles landed in the back of the Calgary net, his third of the night. Toronto goalie Mike Attwood came in to replace Watson, stopping all shots on net for the remaining two minutes of the third. The Rock trailed 14-9 heading into the fourth quarter.

Watson returned to Toronto’s net with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter after another two Roughneck goals from Dobbie and a second from Nolan Heavenor. The score would remain the same for the remainder of the game, with Calgary proving the victor.

Top scorers for the Rock were Luke Wiles (3 goals, 2 assists), and Lewis Ratcliff (2 goals, 2 assists). Josh Wasson and Jason Crosbie each added three points (1 goal, 2 assists), and Stephen Hoar and Kasey Beirnes put up a goal apiece.
Josh Sanderson led the Roughnecks with 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) alongside Kaleb Toth who tallied 3 goals and four assists. Pat Campbell recorded the win for the Roughnecks.
