Veltman Receives Player of the Week Honours

Rock Captain Jim Veltman was honoured as the National Lacrosse League’s Overall Player of the Week for the final week of the NLL regular season for his role in the Rock’s last home game of 2008 on Sunday April 27th.

The Toronto Rock played their final 2008 season game last weekend and paid tribute to their long time Captain Jim Veltman who was playing in his last career game in the NLL before joining the coaching ranks next season.

Despite the Rock being defeated by the Philadelphia Wings, Veltman is accredited with the NLL honours this week for his contribution in the game that resulted in 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) and 17 looseballs that kept Toronto in the game until the very end.

Jim, 42 will finish his lacrosse career having played in 194 regular season games and remains the All-time Looseball leader with 2,415. He has accumulated eight Championship rings (5 with the Toronto Rock) and tallied 650 points (161 goals, 506 assists) in his sixteen season career in the NLL.
