Watson and Billings Win Weekly Awards

Toronto – Bob Watson turned in back-to-back stellar performances in net, while second-year forward Garrett Billings netted back-to-back hat tricks in a weekend sweep of the Rochester Knighthawks.

For his part in the pair of wins, Watson earned the Overall Player of the Week nod as the Rock ran their record to 7-2.  The Friday night win was the 100th of Watson’s career and at 40-years old; he’s playing some of the best lacrosse of his career.

Watson currently leads the NLL in every major statistical category among goaltenders.  His .822 save percentage, 8.42 goals against average and 7 wins are all tops in the league heading into All-Star Weekend.

Billings, who will make his first All-Star appearance this weekend, continues his consistent goal scoring as an integral part of the Rock offence.

Billings scored three times on Friday night in Toronto’s 10-5 win over the Knighthawks and was credited with the game-winning goal.  On Saturday night, Billings continued to get the job done, scoring three more times in Toronto’s 13-6 triumph in Rochester.

In total, over the two weekend wins, Billings scored 6 goals, dished out 3 assists and picked up 11 loose balls.

Washington’s Jeff Moleski won the Defensive Player of the Week, Curtis Dickson of Calgary won the Rookie of the Week and Boston’s Ryan Hotaling was the Transition Player of the Week.
